Compliance Officer Summary PenFed Credit Union is hiring a Compliance Officer in Alexandria, Virginia. The primary purpose of this job is to implement and administer all aspects of the credit union's Compliance Management System for assigned products and services. This position will monitors operational programs for compliance within federal and state laws, regulations. Additionally, this position will also adhere to rules that govern operations and product offerings, trains staff on compliance matters, provides compliance guidance to project teams, and assists the Office of General Counsel with compliance research. Keep abreast of current regulations and upcoming regulatory changes and review regulatory change requirements with assigned business line managers. Ensure business goals and objectives are consistent with current regulations and upcoming regulatory changes. Maintain knowledge of operational policies, procedures, and systems in assigned business areas. Review proposed changes to policies and procedures and provides compliance related feedback as required. Perform compliance audit reviews and follows up on corrective action where required. Participate in product and service development projects to ensure regulatory compliance requirements and incorporate throughout the product's life cycle. Monitor compliance mailbox in rotation with other compliance staff to ensure prompt review of business unit questions, advertisements and other marketing materials. Research and provide responses to business units' compliance questions, including coordinating with other compliance staff, business unit managers and other subject matter experts as needed. Develop and provide compliance training to assigned business units, develop and update materials as needed, and answer questions from participants and managers. Compliance trainings aim to ensure employees understand how their job duties and responsibilities fit into the overall compliance program. Review complaint log to determine any regulatory issues is required to address in assigned areas. Research specific complaints as assigned. Provide assistance to managers, audit services and coordinator of executive correspondence as requested. Participate in monthly compliance committee meetings. Education and Experience Equivalent combination of education and experience is considered. Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and related work experience preferred. Minimum of three (3) years' experience in a compliance capacity at either a financial institution or bank regulatory agency with strong knowledge of consumer banking regulations and regulator expectations for an effective compliance program is required. Broad knowledge of one of more of the following operational functions: consumer lending, mortgage lending, deposits, or payment systems. Familiarity with the primary consumer deposit, lending and credit laws and regulations, including but not limited to RESPA, Fair Credit Reporting Act, Fair Lending laws, Regulations B, E and Z, Home Mortgage Disclosure Act (HMDA), UDAAP, Truth in Savings, and the SAFE Act. Must possess presentation skills, writing and speaking skills, to enable the compliance officer to organize, participate in, and conduct effective meetings and training sessions with employees at all levels of the organization. Excellent research skills and the ability to document findings and project work. Knowledge of the primary resources for tracking federal and state banking laws. Supervisory Responsibility This position will not supervise employees. Licenses and Certifications Compliance competency certification such as NAFCU's NCCO designation required, or designation must be obtained within 12 months of starting the position. Work Environment While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to an indoor office setting with moderate noise. *Most roles require working in an office setting with moderate noise and the ability to lift 25 pounds.* Travel Ability to travel to various worksites and be on-call may be required.
