Parsons is currently seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer with experience in facility design and in the preparation of contract documents. The mechanical engineer will perform a variety of engineering tasks by applying standard engineering techniques and analyses within their discipline. Mechanical engineers at this level have experience an increasing proficiency in the utilization of engineering theories and practices, Company procedures, and quality standards. Typical project assignments are larger in scope and involve engineering calculations, specification development, report generation, BIM (building information modeling), CAE (computer aided engineering), and/or CAD (computer aided design) applications. Work will involve engineering and design of both new facilities and rehabilitating existing facilities. Occasional business travel to supplier, client, and construction locations is expected. Mechanical systems should include one or more of the following: HVAC systems, chillers, boilers, steam systems, fans, compressors, cooling towers, and other related systems. Plumbing systems include one or more of the following: domestic water distribution, storm and sanitary systems, pumping, condensate disposal, and other related systems. Completes a variety of assignments such as drawings, specifications, reports, and other materials suitable for procurement and construction purposes. Prepares standard engineering calculations, material quality takeoffs, estimates, and other associated design documentation Performs site surveys of existing facilities for as-build generation, rehabilitation designs, and for construction support of new facilities. Adherence to a Zero-Incident safety goal is expected. Ensures compliance of design with all applicable codes and regulations, providing the seal and signature of the professional engineer when required by statute or contract. Prepares material/equipment specifications and purchase requisitions; reviews supplier data; witnesses shop tests, assists with assessing supplier manufacturing capabilities. Reviews small and portions of larger supplier drawing submittals and assists in performing technical bid analyses. Prepares and issues specifications, data sheets, and other construction documents. Provides input and technical guidance to CAD Designer/Drafters, Designers, and lower-level Engineers working on the same project. Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate. Requirements : 4-year degree in Mechanical Engineering and 8-10 years of related work experience. Professional Engineer ( PE) license is required with the ability to obtain reciprocity and/or comity in additional states. In addition to the above credentials, experience with industrial, transit, or commercial facilities is essential. Experience in the use of BIM, CAD, scheduling software, or file management software is a plus. Candidate shall be capable of working in a self-directed manner with minimal oversight. Candidate should have experience supervising a design group of CAD Designer/Drafters, Designers, and lower-level Engineers in the production of multiple projects or sub-tasks simultaneously. Further experience in any of the following specialty areas is beneficial but not required: vertical transportation, fire suppression systems, tunnel ventilation, material handling equipment, building management systems, supervisory control and data acquisition, electrical power distribution, natural gas piping and distribution.Skills/ Competencies :Knowledge of HVAC design principles, plumbing design, specification development, and report development is required. Ability to utilize standard office automation software is expected. Ability to communicate verbally and in writing with management, client, and other stakeholders. Working knowledge of REVIT, AutoCAD, MicroStation, Trane Trace, MathCAD, and/or other software packages typically associated with engineering is beneficial. Conducts surveys, studies, and site investigations. Maintains affiliation with professional societies to keep abreast of current technologies. Helps determine budget estimates and staffing requirements for the defined scope and schedule. May assist with other administrative and technical duties. Recommends and prepares technical papers. Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.
