Job Description Summary:
Reporting to the Senior Associate Vice President, The Project Manager supports the Office of Safety and Security, whose mission is to provide a safe and secure campus environment for all members of the university community. The Project Manager confers with management and provides advice on the potential impacts of projects on areas such as organization, staffing, and safety and security policy and procedures. Monitors and coordinates mandatory reporting and compliance processes. This position influences and promotes change within the organization, and effectively communicates and sells ideas. Conducts grant research and development of grant proposals.
Manages, and where appropriate, conducts special projects. Develops project schedules and budgets and identifies inter-dependencies. Plans and determines time requirements and allotment of available resources to various phases of projects. Coordinates interdepartmental matters necessary to expedite projects.
Manages the development of plans, goals, objectives, strategies, policies, and procedures.
Collaborates with staff from other technical areas, such as the Division of Information Technology, the Division of Operations, and external constituents to plan and implement safety and security technology systems and applications.
Assists the Senior Associate Vice President for Safety and Security in the conduct of projects in the SAVP’s area of responsibility.
Prepares and presents clear and concise oral and written communications, including statistical information.
Establishes and maintains contact with stakeholders to provide and obtain information as needed.
Prepares a variety of narrative documents, including policy statements, management reports, and correspondence, and project reports and presentations for senior management.
Establishes and assists in the management of resources and processes that implement technology and applications that support the business needs of Safety and Security. Recommends priorities for the development of applications utilizing new and advanced technologies.
Assists in the coordination of departmental strategic and tactical technology planning in collaboration with the Senior Associate Vice President for Safety and Security.
Performs other related duties as assigned such as manages and coordinates the schedule of the SAVP Safety and Security. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.
Minimum Qualifications: Qualified candidates will hold a Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization plus 2 years of relevant professional experience, or, a Master’s degree or higher in a relevant area of study. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Preferred Qualifications: Previous experience in higher education preferred.
