Part-time Front Desk/Manager On-Duty

The Front Desk/Manager On-Duty, of the Recreation Leader III job class, works as a front desk clerk/cashier at a revenue producing recreation facility and provides program activity information. This position functions as the Manager On-Duty when full-time managers are not on site. This position will assist the supervisors in the promotion and marketing of the all center programs and generating reports for administrative purposes. The Recreation Leader III will have the opportunity to work independently, work with other Recreation Leaders, participants, volunteers and adults to provide a safe, fun, structured and engaging atmosphere. General supervision is received from a Recreation manager of a higher grade or Regional Program Director.The Front Desk/Manager On-Duty should be available to work Monday to Friday from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. and weekends/holidays as needed. Enthusiasm, flexibility and excellent communication skills are needed to be successful in this position.

- Acts as the facility Manager On-Duty in the absence of a full-time Manager;
- Distributes information on various programs that the center/department offers;
- Ensures all safety precautions and guidelines are followed;
- Fills out incident/illness report forms and contact parents as needed;
- Keeps financial and activity records and submits periodic and special reports;
- Manages Front Desk operations in the absence of a full-time Manager;
- Participates in staff meetings, in-service trainings, and workshops;
- Registers new participants;
- Supervises lower level Recreation Leaders and Front Desk cashiers;
- Performs related work as required.

The City of Alexandria Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Activities received national accreditation from the Commission for Accreditation of Park and Recreation Agencies (CAPRA). National accreditation requires park and recreation agencies to meet 155 standards representing elements of effective and efficient park and recreation operations.
