Applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level in the Federal service (or private sector equivalent) which provided the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position. Qualifying specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
- Specialized Experience for the GS-15: Applicant must have at least one full-time year (12 months) of specialized work experience equivalent in difficulty and responsibility to the GS-14 grade level in the Federal service (or private sector equivalent) that demonstrates mastery knowledge and skills on: Federal laws of evidence; Federal agency rules on investigation procedures and precedent setting; and the importance of gathering evidence and conducting research. In addition, my experience includes conducting complex research and analysis, collection and production of investigation data, study of trends and patterns, identification of intelligence gaps, and development and implementation of policies on regional/nationwide healthcare fraud activities in support of the prevention of waste, fraud and abuse, and the use of the knowledge derived from investigative development to assess and forecast the impact of threats posed.
There is no education substitution at the GS-15 grade level.
Security and Background Requirements: A background security investigation will be required for all appointees. Appointment will be subject to the applicant's successful completion of a background security investigation and favorable adjudication. Failure to successfully meet these requirements may be grounds for appropriate personnel action. In addition, if hired, a background security reinvestigation or supplemental investigation may be required at a later time.
