Job Description

A mid-size non-profit is seeking an energetic and experienced Human Resources Director. This individual serves as a trusted resource to employees and leadership on HR related matters, including employee relations, organizational policies, and procedures. Responsibilities include:

  • Establishes and implements short- and long-range goals, objectives, implementation plans, policies, and operating procedures for the HR function; monitors, evaluates and takes steps to improve the effectiveness of HR function.
  • Directs staff recruitment and employment processes
  • Maintains human resource information system data/personnel files and proactively analyzes and manages the supply and demand for staff.
  • Coordinates employee orientation, training and professional development programs in conjunction with other staff members as appropriate.
  • Directs the administration of insurance, retirement, and other benefits programs; evaluates and develops recommendations for improvements to employer-sponsored benefit programs.
  • Coordinates systematic review of compliance with all Federal and State laws, regulations, and standards, and conducts periodic internal audits of human resources processes and documentation.
  • Oversees the administration of the organization’s performance evaluation process.
  • Provides direction and oversight in the development and implementation of employee relations strategies and programs designed to foster a positive,
    productive and transparent work environment and climate
  • Investigates employee complaints/issues and provides counsel to managers and handles employee-related management issues

Job Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in HR or related field
• SPHR preferred.
• 5+ years of experience in HR at a director level.
• Strong interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills.
• Skill in design, implementation and evaluation of employer-sponsored benefit programs.
• Knowledge of computerized information systems used in human resources and recruiting applications.
• Strong analytical skills.
• Prior experience working for small to mid-sized non-profit organization preferred.
• Knowledge of federal and state employment laws and regulations, and fair employment policies and procedures.
• Experience with developing and monitoring a budget.
• Ability to analyze problems and develop creative solutions to complex human resource issues.
• Proven ability to exercise strict confidentiality and sound judgement.
