Graduate Student Services Coordinator
The George Mason University School of Systems Biology (SSB), within the College of Science (COS), invites applications for a full-time, Graduate Student Services Coordinator position effective January 8, 2019. Duties: The Graduate Student Services Coordinator (GSSC) will support all academic programs and serve as the point of contact addressing incoming communications for all programs. The successful candidate will provide academic guidance from admissions through graduation as well as work effectively with students, faculty, and colleagues. The successful candidate will be familiar with student services; adhere to all university procedures and policies; disseminate information and respond to applicant, student, and faculty inquiries; maintain confidential student files; effectively communicate up to date program information; assist with academic advising; maintain a student database; create reports; schedule all graduate courses online; work collaboratively with various university departments and offices; participate in university, college and departmental events; and work on various projects within the department. The incumbent will be part of the administrative team that works closely together to further the mission of the university.
- Successful completion of a Bachelorâ€™s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience;
- Knowledge of graduate programs and policies;
- Detailed oriented and ability to multitask;
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, written and verbal;
- Excellent customer service skills and the ability to work effectively with a diverse community;
- Proficient computer skills and demonstrated experience with Microsoft office and email applications;
- Ability to effectively use student advising software applications and university administrative systems;
- Ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with constituents;
- Experience working in a higher education environment; and
- Ability to operate independently and as a team member.
- Familiarity with Ellucian Banner; and
- Knowledge and experience with George Mason University procedures, policies and regulations.
