Clinic Public Health Nurse II
Provides nursing services such as pregnancy testing and counseling, maternity services, public health assessment, international travel vaccinations, refugee services, sexually transmitted disease screening, testing, treatment and follow-up, HIV testing and counseling, tuberculosis screening and treatment, adult and childhood immunizations to individuals, families, and targeted at-risk populations in the clinic setting. Provides appropriate nursing interventions based on assessment of clients following public health standards of care. Utilizes a variety of nursing skills to meet identified needs of clients in clinic setting.Employment Standards
Graduation from a college or university accredited by the National League for Nursing or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education with a bachelor's degree in nursing; plus one year of work experience in a public health/community health setting; or two years of full-time post-licensure experience as a nurse in an equivalent health care setting whose focus was primarily prevention services and community education.
CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED:
Possession of current license or a multistate licensure privilege to practice as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia; selected positions or area(s) may require additional certifications (e.g., CPR) to practice specialized Nursing skills; selected positions or area(s) of assignment may require the incumbent to possess a valid motor vehicle driver's license.
Preferred candidates will have two years of post-licensure experience working as a registered nurse in a public health or community services setting. Experience working with diverse populations; administering vaccines in a health care setting; using a team approach for service delivery. Bilingual skills a plus.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background check, an Office of the Inspector General (OIG) check, a check of the Child Protective Services Registry, and a driving record check to the satisfaction of the employer.
Employee is required to walk, stand, sit, bend, kneel, reach, climb stairs and carry equipment or young children up to 25 pounds in weight. Uses hands to grasp, handle or feel. Visual acuity is required to read data on a computer monitor. Ability to drive a vehicle.
