Special Events & Fundraising Intern Title Reports To Overview The Children's Inn is seeking an energetic and personable part-time intern who is interested in gaining valuable experience in fundraising, planning special events, database management, and more. This intern will have the opportunity to work side-by-side with our Communications and Development team in a dynamic non-profit setting. The Special Events and Fundraising Intern will develop an understanding of planning and executing small to large scale fundraising events. They will gain a deeper understanding of the functioning of a non-profit through first-hand interactions and collaboration with members of the Development department. This position will give an excellent overview of various forms of fundraising and teach how advances in medical research are messaged to various constituents. Assist in preparing and coordinating all logistical aspects of The Inn's major fundraising events Maintain work plans for all major projects and events to assist in managing deadlines and deliverables Participate in event planning committee meetings to observe the planning and execution process Solicit and track in-kind auction donations and assist in the packaging and organization of silent-auctions Assist in the creation of event collateral and promotional materials and work with communications staff to develop content for print and digital media publications Support all "day of" event logistics Administrative Responsibilities: Assist in submitting and tracking invoices and payments in collaboration with Finance Assistant Work with communications team to develop social media content to promote events Updating prospect lists and spreadsheets to reflect confirmed sponsors, track donor outreach, and paid and outstanding payments Provide data entry assistance in collaboration with Development Assistant and Database Coordinator Essential Skills: Professional and responsible demeanor Strong writing and communication skills Ability to work independently Ability to work with the public in a professional manner Interest in learning the details of non-profit development Proficient in Microsoft Office A strong interest in working with a mission driven organization such as The Inn Qualifications: Previous internship or other work experience or involvement with student affairs Must be in good general health with no history of chronic diseases that could be hazardous to the residents of The Children's Inn Schedule: Special Events & Fundraising Intern works a flexible part-time schedule with minimum of 20 hours per week during business hours to be determined. The Development Intern's work and "office-time" would be primarily based at The Children's Inn however; the position will require travel to and from events, with participation in periodic activities and meetings that take place on nights and weekends. This is an unpaid internship. Credits may be granted based on the individual course requirements.
