    In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience.

    There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.

    Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Electronics Mechanic without more than normal supervision - Operate, diagnose, disassemble, repair, adjust and check electronic, electromechanical and mechanical assembles, sub-systems and associated components on electronic equipment, such as computerized alarm systems, commercial and tactical two-way communication radios (portable, mobile and fixed), industrial controls, and emergency federal audio and video communication systems - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

    You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:
    • Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision (Screen-out Element)
    • Ability To Use Hand and Power Tools - Electronics
    • Ingenuity (Ability To Suggest and Apply New Methods)
    • Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, Repair, etc.

    Physical Effort: Work assignments require light to moderate physical effort. Employees frequently lift, carry, or otherwise handle items weighing up to 40 pounds. Occasionally they handle items greater than 40 pounds, with assistance from coworkers. Frequent standing, walking, bending, crouching, reaching and stooping is required. Occasional climbing, working on concrete, and working in high places is required. The majority of work is performed in a sedentary position.

    Working Conditions: Work is usually performed inside a well-lighted, heated, ventilated area. Work is sometimes performed in high or restricted places, under conditions of heat or cold and occasional inclement weather. Employees are subject to injuries such as electrical shock, cuts, bruises, and minor burns.
