The Office of the State’s Attorney is seeking to fill the position of Public Relations Officer for the Communications Unit. The Communications Unit is responsible for external communications efforts including media relations, social media programs, and all agency promotional initiatives. This full-time position is located at 120 E. Baltimore Street, Baltimore, MD.

The Public Relations Officer will be responsible for managing all agency external communications efforts. This role will help to maintain agency image and increase public awareness.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Collaborates with the Communications Director to develop public relations strategies for current and future agency programs and initiatives

• Cultivates relationships with media outlets

• Serves as primary point of contact for all media inquiries and coordinates responses

• Develops high-quality media statements, press releases, media advisories, pitches, website copy and other agency related content

• Drafts engaging and thoughtful talking points and speeches for agency leadership

• Monitors and disseminates all relevant agency print, online, television, radio and social media coverage

• Coordinates and staffs radio and television appearances for agency leadership

• Organizes agency press conferences and media events

• May coordinate and review the work of other Communications Unit team members

• Some evening and weekend work required

• Preferred applicants will have a bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, marketing, or related field

• 5 – 7 Years of experience in public relations, marketing or related field

• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills; strong copywriting and content creation skills

• Well versed in all public relations principles and techniques

• Ability to establish and maintain effective working external relationships with media and partner agencies as well as internal relationships at all levels of the agency

• Strong project management skills with the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously

• Experience managing all major social media platforms i.e. Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram
