Overview:

Sentara Heart Hospital in Norfolk, Virginia is seeking an experienced RN - Team Coordinator, Patient Care Services for the Cardiac Observation Unit

This position is full time day shift.


Department Overview:
    Brand new 12-bed Cardiac Observation unit at Sentara Heart Hospital located on the campus of our level 1 trauma center, Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.Candidates for this position must have the availability to work 12 hour shift. This unit opens Monday at 7AM and closes on Saturdays at 7PM. Closed on Sentara Observed Holidays
  • Perform competent level of nursing care to cardiac patients in an observation status.
  • The unit will prepare and recover patients for procedures in the Cath and EP labs as well as cardiac surgical patients.
  • Care for specific cardiac patients with clinical pathways to expedite their care and ensure discharges occur within 24 hours.2 years of RN experience required, Cardiac, ICU, or ED preferred; and nursing leadership experience required

Responsibilities:

Position shares the 24/7 responsibility to assist the manager for the daily operations of one or more clinical areas. Supervises patient care services staff to ensure patient safety, provides high quality outcomes and an exceptional patient/family experience; assists manager in the development and monitoring of the departmental budget; coordinates the purchasing and payroll processes; serves as a technical/clinical resource to team members; and performs work assignments as needed to provide appropriate coverage and to mentor/assist staff. Assists manager with interviewing, hiring, developing, and retaining staff members with the goal of developing a highly reliable work team. May coordinate and/or assist with staff education, orientation and precepting of members of the team. Utilizes effective communication/ interpersonal skills and is able to adapt leadership style to support achieving department goals and objectives.

RN-Bachelor's Level Degree

Experience
Required: Nursing - 2 years, Nursing Leadership - Previous experience
