Additional responsibilities in the observation area include monitoring non-admitted patients awaiting further diagnostic testing or procedures (i.e. cardiac stress test). Should the nurse desire, they may also be cross trained to work in the emergency department’s fast track and focus care area. These areas treat stable, low to middle acuity walk-in patients.
