Overview:

Optima Health is hiring a Director of Pharmacy - Managed Care to lead our Pharmacy Benefit Management teams in Norfolk, VA and Virginia Beach, VA.


Department/Position Overview:
The Director will assumes the responsibility and accountability for the Pharmacy Department services and operations within Optima Health Plan. Serves as a mentor and role model of professional practice consistent with organizational goals, customer service, clinical effectiveness, and standards of care. Responsible for the delivery of high quality services that meet or exceed customer expectations and all requirements established by applicable regulatory and/or accreditation bodies. Establishes the strategic plan for the Pharmacy Department and pharmacy benefit aligned with the health plan's organizational strategic plan and objectives ultimately contributing to the success of the organization. Develops and implements cutting edge pharmacy benefit and utilization strategies that will enhance internal operating efficiency and bottom-line accountability as it relates to utilization of pharmaceutical products across the pharmacy and medical benefit. Effectively negotiate and manage contracted vendor relationships supporting the pharmacy benefit inclusive of drug company contracting and rebate management. 5 years Pharmacy Leadership experience should include clinical pharmacy care experience, pharmaceutical contracting experience, quality improvement, pharmacy utilization management, leadership and management experience working in a health plan. At least 5 years of experience managing people and managing several projects or programs simultaneously. Will consider pharmacists not licensed in Virginia due to relocation. Will lead 30 total team members (direct and indirect). Must have Virginia Pharmacist license within 90 days of Sentara start date. Doctorate of Pharmacy preferred.
