The College of Health and Human Services at George Mason University invites applications for a newly created grant funded position under the Mason Music & Memory Initiative (M 3I). This initiative aims to implement a personalized music intervention (MUSIC & MEMORY®), which includes training of direct care workers through micro-learning modules. This initiative will be implemented in nursing facilities in Virginia to achieve an increased use of a person-centered, nonpharmacological approach to promote well-being among residents. George Mason University has a strong institutional commitment to the achievement of excellence and diversity among its faculty and staff, and strongly encourages candidates to apply who will enrich Mason’s academic and culturally inclusive environment.

Responsibilities: In collaboration with partners from the local, state, and national levels, the goals of the initiative are to inform nursing facilities of the MUSIC & MEMORY® program, provide necessary training, implement the program, evaluate its effects, and expand and sustain the initiative. Over the course of three years, the initiative will assist the statewide implementation of the intervention in more than 100 of the Medicare/Medicaid-certified nursing facilities in Virginia and establish a platform for the continued expansion of the program to reach the greatest number of individuals possible.

The M 3I project coordinator will have overall operational and management responsibility in meeting the project goals and objectives and will ensure that there is timely reporting of the program outcomes. The project coordinator will oversee all consultants and contractors to ensure contracts and agreements are executed and implemented in a timely manner. He/she will plan, direct, coordinate, and lead activities of the various components of the M 3I to achieve its deliverables within the prescribed time frame and funding parameters. He/she will also create and maintain project documentation and reports with effective filling systems, enter or update collected data into a computer system, monitor project progress, maintain the M 3I website, provide assistance in development and delivery of webinars, handle any issues that arise, communicate with the project participants and various stakeholders, provide strategic guidance to the project staff, and mange general administrative duties, including signing off on student research assistants’ timesheets. The coordinator will collaborate with the internal team and local, state, and national levels of stakeholders. This position will report directly to the Project Director.
