Duties Project Overview:

Project supports the IT system administration team of a major federal customer providing security services including cyber incident response, threat analysis and security operations support.

Job Description:

The System Administrator will provide technical expertise working independently and/or with other engineers. The primary area of responsibility will include the administration and support of existing and new infrastructure to include customer network and system administration across multiple domains/networks.
Daily Responsibilities:
  • Demonstrated scripting experience preferably with PowerShell.
  • Applied systems engineering experience working with Windows server applications
  • Installing, configuring, and hardening Windows systems (Windows 2012, 2016)
  • Knowledge and implementation of Federal security baselines.
  • Familiarity with Virtualization and Containers
  • Ability to document in depth information regarding system security baselines, configurations, deviations, and justifications for security recommendations.
  • Administering operation of services according to Government policies and procedures
  • Coordinating and implementing software and hardware upgrades
  • Provide system administration support to existing and new infrastructure, including ongoing network support, network availability and addressing performance problems that may be present.
  • Troubleshoot network connectivity issues, plan and execute switch configurations.
  • Provide quality assurance review for new and existing applications configurations.
  • Provide Tier 2 support troubleshooting network systems when necessary. Provide recommendations for improvements to those systems/devices.
  • Work hours are 2:00 pm - 10:30 pm, Days Sunday -Thursday in Beltsville, MD.
Qualifications Basic Requirements:
  • Understanding of system monitoring, design, maintenance and general administration duties.
  • Experience with the server and network configuration settings and implementation of security best practices.
  • Understanding of TCP/IP fundamentals, sub-netting and other networking fundamentals.
  • The ability to monitor and diagnose issues within the network.
  • Ability to update documentation as needed.
  • Technical troubleshooting skills, analytical problem solving ability, and organizational skills
  • Excellent communication skills in technical, business, and client interactions

Nice to have:
  • Experience working with Firewalls (ASA, PaloAlto)
  • Experience with VPN implementation
  • Experience with boundary protections solutions
