Assistant/Associate Professor/Director of Advanced Studies in Teaching and Learning

Responsibilities: Serves as the administrative supervisor within the graduate program for the Department of Teaching, Learning and Professional Development in the College of Education; oversees the components of graduate education; collaborates with the undergraduate programs to support the teaching and learning process and strengthen student success; acts as the primary liaison among the graduate faculty, students, and the Graduate School; recruits and works with faculty, Bowie State University personnel, school districts and educational stakeholders as programs are developed, interpreted and enforced; employs strategies to recruit a diverse cohort of talented students; oversees programs to ensure student success; manages and directs internal and external communications along with supervising public relations efforts, marketing/advertising and communication strategies for program; writes certificates and academic programs to promote the academic strength of the College and supports the educational and professional success of its graduate students; supports the CAEP process; other duties as assigned. This is a full-time tenure track faculty position.

Qualifications: Doctorate in the field of Teacher Education or a related field. Minimum of five (5) years as an experienced teacher, teacher educator, school administrator or as an urban school reformer in the field of education required. Excellent networking and communication skills are essential. The ability to supervise staff and interact with a large diverse student and faculty population is vital; should possess grant writing skills and a strong commitment to working with an ethically and culturally diverse student population and be able to contribute diverse student population and be able to contribute to the mission of the College of Education and Urban Studies and Bowie State University.
