About the CBP The Community Business Partnership (CBP) is an independent not-for-profit corporation that is part of George Mason Universitys Mason Enterprise Center under the Office of Entrepreneurship and Innovation. Located in Springfield, Virginia, the CBPs mission is to be a complete resource center providing training and support to those seeking to start and build successful small businesses.
Responsibilities: The Director is responsible for developing business lending opportunities and managing a portfolio of business loans.
CBP is seeking an entrepreneurially minded individual who can build on previous efforts to expand the CBPs financial products and services.
This position reports to the Executive Director of the Community Business Partnership (CBP) and works closely with other CBP Program Directors and staff to meet the overall CBP objectives and serve the needs of low-income, socially disadvantaged communities.
The Directors position is part has responsibilities and duties in the following areas: * Identify and apply for additional funds to both capitalize the Centers revolving loan fund as well as support the Centers operations. * Maintain the CBPs US Treasury CDFI status and market loan products to CBPs designated target markets. * Develop key relationships with commercial bankers and other lenders in order to make appropriate referrals, develop new products and services, and create working relationships for future deals and bank loan opportunities. * Analyze and underwrite loan requests, provide recommendations to loan committee, and work with legal counsel on developing appropriate closing documents. * Maintain working relationship with clients who have loans to ensure compliance with loan requirements and minimize loan losses. Required Qualifications: * Masters Degree in finance, economics, or related field, or an equivalent Bachelors degree with extensive demonstrated experience in the lending industry; * Proven leadership and an in-depth understanding of the CDFI industry and requirements; * Demonstrated knowledge or experience in commercial business loan analysis and underwriting, collections, managing loan portfolios, sustainable lending practices, and loan portfolio maintenance; * Demonstrated knowledge of US Treasury CDFI regulatory and compliance issues; * Flexible and able to multi-task. Ability to work within an ambitious, fast-moving entrepreneurial environment while also working toward clarity and solutions; * Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and independently to analyze and solve problems; * Maintains high ethics and confidentiality with respect to borrowers, colleagues and the public at large when representing business lending and the Community Business Partnership; * Demonstrated knowledge of and experience using business lending software, Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint and Excel) without administrative support; and * Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
