Data and Technology Lead

You will serve as a leader and an in-house expert of API’s database and reporting technologies, developed and hosted both on-premises and in the cloud. You will supervise database personnel and oversee all aspects of database development, day-to-day database administration, data integrity, data reporting, and integration. You are also responsible for daily and long-term oversight of the API data lake.

Database Management Lead
- Serves as a database architect, lead developer, and administrator for the Microsoft SQL Server environment used to support API’s missions-critical systems and processes. Ensures integrity, availability, reliability, performance and security of SQL Server engine, data and reporting components. Manages all aspects of database development, from design and documentation to the code deployment and post-deployment support. Follows industry best practices for application system development using SQL Server, including advanced SQL programming concepts such as complex queries, joins, views, stored procedures, triggers, jobs, etc. Provides technical guidance and make recommendations for all API SQL Server initiatives while maintaining current industry knowledge of SQL Server platform. Acts as a liaison between Software Developers and IT Operations personnel on troubleshooting activities.
- Chairs API data governance body. Coordinates and align information systems with user objectives; works closely with system users to ensure alignment with API information system strategies. Provides analysis services for business data needs and makes recommendations for viable solutions. Addresses issues of data integrity and migration (validation, clean-up and mapping). Troubleshoots data issues, validates result sets, recommends and implements process improvements. Coordinates with other API departments/groups and effectively represents IT on issues involving information management, compliance and financial information processing.
- Serves as API’s lead in the utilization of Business Intelligences (BI) tools and methodologies; supports an evolving BI platform and identifies and exploits opportunities for platform enhancements. Maintains the inventory of existing reports and data warehouse solutions Manages API’s Power BI reporting environment Develops and maintains customer-facing reports and dashboard as needed SSRS, SSIS, SSAS, T-SQL, Excel, Power BI, BI360, or other reporting applications. For more complicated reports, partners with select vendors to produce desired work product(s). Leads database warehouse efforts while utilizing out-of-the-box (OTB) and proprietary technologies. Works directly or through subordinates with Finance, Global Industry Services (GIS) and other department on special projects involving billing, invoicing, imports, data reconciliation, etc.
If you are our ideal candidate, you will possess the following qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline, such as Computer Science or Information Systems is strongly preferred. Master’s degree is a plus. A minimum of 10 years of IT experience in successful implementation of information technology with a heavy focus on database development, operations, and reporting. A minimum of 8 years of hands-on recent SQL Server experience, including work with cloud instances. Strong interpersonal, communication, writing and analytical skills are required. Supervisory/team lead experience is strongly preferred. Ability to mentor and train subordinates as required. Must be able to work under pressure and handle multiple fast-paced assignments simultaneously. An expert-level understanding of modern database technology, tools, and industry best-practices. An in-depth knowledge of database fundamentals, database design, development, and administration in areas including Microsoft SQL Server 2008-2016, SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS), Business Intelligence, and Data Warehousing. A comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Power BI, Office 365, Azure, and relevant tools. Information management, data governance, data analysis expertise is strongly desired. Familiarity with application and website development. Strong understanding of business processes and customer service issues.
