and meeting our promises and commitments to our customers Summary The Electrical Systems Technician will apply expertise and knowledge in the service maintenance and testing of existing electrical building systems in critical high tech environments Tasks Responsibilities Direct witness and document testing of electrical systems Plan and coordinate the scope of work with site maintenance staff to be executed in their facility Coordinate with various subcontracted test and maintenance companies to accomplish the scope of work in the time frame allotted Develop modify and execute standard methods of procedure MOP test plans to meet site specific conditions Supervise and verify safe workplace practices for EEI employees subcontractors and owner maintenance staff Perform site electrical system assessments including equipment and conductor data code issues maintenance issues and serviceability Documentation of problems and code issues discovered during site investigations Complete documentation of field findings in an electronic data format Sketch system one lines from site investigation and transmit to Engineer performing CAD and coordination studies Follow preplanned schedules for the shutdown cleaning and testing of electrical systems to include Subcontractors Diagnose analyze and troubleshoot any electrical problems that are uncovered during investigation or maintenance testing Work with contractors to ensure projects are completed on time and per code standards and contract requirements Develop and maintain relationships with clients and maintenance staff of project sites Relationship to Employees and Clients The Electrical Systems Technician will report to a Branch Manager Project Manager or Project Principal and works closely with company personnel vendors and clients Qualifications Required State registered Journeyman who participated in an approved electrical apprenticeship program NETA Level III or IV certified Technician is considered an equivalent qualification year industry related electrical code technical or management courses with years of field service at the Electrical Foreman level or above Strong knowledge of critical electrical power systems functionality and overall electrical troubleshooting Working knowledge of NFPA E and arc flash training Advanced knowledge of the National Electric Code NFPA Basic knowledge and proficiency in the use of personal computer and tablets with Microsoft Office including email and Excel for project data collection Able to travel to a minimum of two project sites located in the western half to the United States a month Travel for site investigation and maintenance is expected to be less than of the total scope of work Valid driver s license required Able to visit existing customer project sites with the ability to climb stairs ladders and maneuver in and around electrical switchgear generators and UPS systems The knowledge of proper procedures to work safely in close proximity to exposed line voltage and low voltage wiring and terminations Strong attention to detail skills detail oriented Strong analytical and organizational skills Able to work independently or in a team environment with limited supervision and can carry out written and oral instructions Able to work with a diverse group of people Strong verbal and written communication skills Able to work overtime as needed Knowledge of OHSA and familiarity with workplace safety rules and regulations Must be able to pass a background check and drug screening test Desired Technical training courses in electronics or testing of electrical distribution equipment Working knowledge of and interest in electrical testing and commissioning based around the NETA standards Working knowledge of how to prepare and execute electrical MOPs for shutdown testing and maintenance of critical power systems Direct experience with the set up and operation of test equipment including digital multi meters infrared cameras data logging equipment power meters circuit tracing and load bank testing Knowledgeable in construction contracting and service industry with specific experience in data center or network communication projects Knowledgeable in installation practice and technique in all areas of electrical installations from service entrance to branch circuitry Working knowledge of essential electrical system power including standby generators paralleling switchgear automatic transfer switches uninterruptable power supplies and distribution system equipment Basic knowledge of telecommunication environments that include servers network and data processing equipment Previous infrared testing experience Working knowledge of solar photovoltaic systems and wind generation Physical Abilities The work environment characteristics and physical demands described are representative of those an employee may encounter in a normal office setting and a construction work site The work environment of a typical office environment requires sitting for long periods of time working with computers and other office equipment The work environment for a construction site visit is physically active and may require significant amounts of standing walking squatting stooping reaching and climbing Field work will require employee to have mobility a good sense of balance
