What you will doAs a critical part of the SimplexGrinnell team, the Sprinkler Fitter works onsite with our commercial customers to set up and program their SimplexGrinnell fire and security systems. The Sprinkler Fitter also dismantles and reconstructs equipment when necessary.How you will do itInstalls appropriate devices; dismantles and reconstructs equipment as required by customer or SimplexGrinnell.Works safely and responsibly to avoid injuries, damage to property, loss of unused materials and cleans up installation debris.Contacts customers prior to the date of scheduled installation to verify schedule.Prepares estimates in accordance with prescribed instructions or directions of supervisor.Follows proper schematic wiring diagrams and hook-up procedures.Tests operation of system to the signal-receiving center to properly establish service.Reads building, electrical and sprinkler blueprints as required.Coordinates installations with police/fire departments and handles necessary records for notification of emergency calls.May mange installation teams on larger projects.Coach and mentor less experienced installers.What we look forRequiredA high school diploma or GED5-10 years documented experience in installation and service of fire sprinkler systems or equivalent mechanical background.Possess a valid driver's license and driving record that meets company requirements.PreferredFollow verbal and written instructions.Capable of performing physical labor to include carrying and moving equipment andtools weighing up to 70 lbs.Able to work in unusual and sometimes difficult positions such as climbing ladders,scaffolding and high lift equipment up to 60 feet, working within ducts, crawl spaces, above ceilings, etc.Read and understand construction blueprints, diagrams, and specifications used in installation activitiesAbility to work flexible hours.Ability to adhere to, implement, and follow safety guidelines and procedures at all times.Excellent communication skills, using tact and diplomacy when dealing with customers and team members.Strong organizational skills, positive attitude, and an ability to learn quickly.Able to obtain and retain any licenses required by National, State and Local codes.Some technical school training is a plus.Ability to read blue prints and schematic drawings.Ability to operate hand and power tools.Ability to operate fleet vehicle in a safe manner at all times.Ability to communicate and provide excellent customer serviceWhat else you'll getSupportive team environment, flexible schedule, mobile device, laptop, company vehicle.
