Cobham AES Inc. Cobham Advanced Electronic Solutions Inc. (CAES Inc.) is a technology and innovation leader specializing in defense, security and civil markets. CAES Inc. is seeking a Vice President, Operations Finance to support businesses, who employ ~3,500 people, with established customers and partner relationships in defense, space and commercial markets, and annual revenues of ~$800 million. This position reports to the CAES Sr. Vice President & CFO and will be located in Arlington, VA. Position Summary: The Vice President, Operations Finance is responsible for leading the business finance financial position of the Cobham Advanced Electronic Solution Inc. The individual will oversee all operational, FP&A and program / project finance activities with business support for the Chief Operating Officer and operational leadership team. He/she will participate in establishing and implementing strategies, goals, and objectives, and serving as a resource in all aspects of financial matters. Responsibilities: Our Vice President, Operational Finance will participate as a senior member of the business leadership team, providing analyses, reporting, and insights to drive business performance. Key responsibilities of the Vice President will include: Advise the CEO, COO and other key members of senior management on financial planning budgeting, cash flow, investment priorities, and policy matters Challenge and improve business performance by helping to identify emerging issues, derive solutions, and drive key initiatives. Develop process and process standardization that will help propel the maturity of the company wide business finance team. Integrate financial strategies and develop and implement a strategic plan for sales growth and margin expansion. Develop and evolve systems for financial planning and analysis and improving the forecasting and reporting process. Partner with CFO and COO in presenting operating results to both the senior management and business leadership team Review proposed organizational changes and recruit the appropriate talent and skill sets necessary to grow the business. Promote a culture of high performance and continuous improvement that values learning and a commitment to quality. Ensure staff members receive timely and appropriate training and development Mentor and develop team using a supportive and collaborative approach: assign accountabilities; set objectives; establish priorities; and monitor and evaluate results In a dynamic delivery environment, assess programs of varying size and complexity to determine appropriate accounting treatment utilizing IFRS 15 (revenue & profit accounting for long term programs) and company accounting policy interpretation. Monitor and analyze acquisition business integration activities and cost improvement projects across the sector. Collaborate with the Finance and Business leader ' s team to continually improve the quality of financial management reporting. Align with Business Finance leaders to assure best practices are being utilized effectively within the company. Maintain on-going and fluid communication with the CFO and Vice President, Finance & Controller, regarding ongoing operational, financial performance and accounting matters Integrated member of the COO ' s leader ' s team to develop an understanding of the business, identify ways to add value, and provide best practices and advice. Minimum Requirements: Bachelor ' s Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline. 15 - 20 years of financial career experience to include financial business leadership roles with oversight of financial planning and analysis. Experience serving as Financial Leader within a business as well as experience executing budgeting and strategic planning processes. Experience to effectively interface with Senior Management on all financial matters Possess extensive and current knowledge of cutting-edge principles and practices associated with accounting, cost management, percentage of completion accounting, finance, systems, and lean manufacturing initiatives and related systems Experience within business operations. Ability to travel of 25%. US Citizenship. Experience with US DoD contracts Experience in manufacturing or technology-based environment. Preferred Qualification: MBA or advanced degree Aerospace & Defense experience CPA, CMA, or equivalent certification Active DoD clearance Core Competencies: Financial Planning & Analysis - Supports all aspects of planning, performance review, and management reporting processes, including annual budgeting, forecasting, long-range planning, and profit and loss estimation of product line profitability. Budgeting - Develops a plan for estimating the cost of operating during a certain time period and determines expected revenues and expenses. Monitors actual vs. budget in order to control costs and provides information in support management decisions. Program & Project Finance - Develops an understanding of financial issues and initiates efforts to reduce spend and focus available funds on project/program activities which will deliver the greatest benefit realization at the lowest cost. Advising & Consulting - Provides consulting and advice to internal and external customers on policies, procedures, technologies, issues, and other organizational requirements. Strategic Planning - Formulates and implements plans that are consistent with the long-term interests of the organization.
