Engineer (C4I/Warfare Systems)
Job Summary AECOM is seeking an Engineer 3 to apply knowledge of applicable principles for the integration of new/upgraded C4I or warfare systems on new construction and in-service navy ships to meet an Integrated Topside Design environment. Requirements of the position are to analyze options that optimize the topside design and ensure electromagnetic and war fighting compatibility is maintained with the addition of new or upgraded systems by applying appropriate commercial and military specifications, standards, and instructions. The candidate should possess knowledge of ship missions, sensor and weapon system performance specifications, and requirements and be able to provide guidance to installation activities for successful ship installation/integration. In addition, the candidate will develop solutions to technical issues, review change proposals, and waiver requests. This position requires the candidate to anticipate future fleet needs with the engineering team and investigate the application of new technologies and approaches to overcome current limitations. The candidate will work closely with Navy, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, and other DoD program offices, sponsors, the fleet, laboratories, port engineers, contractors, and ship builders to develop task schedules and plans and manage those tasks within time and budget constraints while provide recommendations for managing and allocating appropriate technical and personnel assets. Candidate will have direct customer daily interface and communication while working on site. Minimum Requirements Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field or equivalent experience (additional 8 years in lieu of a Bachelor's degree) Must be eligible to obtain and maintain an active Secret clearance At least six (6) years of general experience in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, or Naval Architecture At least four (4) years of professional experience or equivalent of which one year of work experience may include Integrated Topside Design, Electromagnetic Environmental Effects (E3) military or commercial specifications/standards, antenna design/installation, Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC), Electromagnetic Interference (EMI), Hazard of Electromagnetic Radiation to Fuel, Ordnance or Personnel HERF/O/P, and/or radar, communications, ordnance, Electromagnetic (EM) field measurements, or testing Occasional travel is required, within the Washington, DC metropolitan area for meetings with the potential for travel to naval and private shipyards and other Naval Facilities Preferred Qualifications United States Navy experience and/or Civilian experience for installing, repairing, maintaining, and testing combat systems and/or C4I equipment Knowledge of primary warfare system functional disciplines such as Command and Control, Communications, Sensors, Weapons, and Air Traffic Control Computational Electromagnetic (CEM) analysis experience An Active Secret Clearance What We Offer AECOM is a place where you can put your innovative thinking and business skills into high gear and work alongside other highly intelligent and motivated people.
