Senior Graphic Designer
About This Role We are looking for an enthusiastic, outgoing and collaborative individual who generates original ideas, works quickly under tight deadlines, and pivots easily from project to project. This person is an expert in Adobe Creative Suite and knows their way around MS Office. They also have a strong understanding of typography, color, layout and imagery, as well as culturally relevant design that respects diverse populations and experiences. At the same time, they understand that being an effective and responsive communicator - internally at all levels, as well as externally - is essential in a fast-paced agency environment. As a full-time Senior Graphic Designer, you will bring to life our clients' issue-based campaigns through print, multimedia and digital design projects as part of the Design + Editorial team. Your role will include providing exceptional design strategy, working with teams to exceed the creative expectations of our clients, and identifying trends and developments in the design/digital field. Highlights and Responsibilities Your responsibilities will include the following: Collaborating with staff and clients on design concepts, layouts and strategies, and defending approaches and rationale when necessary. Designing a wide variety of print materials, including report covers, briefs, posters, direct mail, conference/event materials (including exhibits and stage design), and more. Creating concepts and original designs for digital communications, including websites, online advertising, social media, and mobile apps, as well as email marketing and e-publications. Evaluating creative concepts of freelance designers and providing art direction to bring products to completion. Developing and maintaining the integrity of client brands, including logos, brand guidelines and business collateral. Demonstrating expertise in responsive web design, with working knowledge of popular CMS and basic HTML skills. Building and managing photo libraries. Developing motion graphics such as animated PowerPoints and GIFs, and providing art direction on video products. Laying out and formatting documents, including conducting photo research/acquisition, as well as designing using data, such as infographics. Traveling off-site when necessary to attend client meetings and support client conferences and events. Understanding and being able to communicate with others how design is evolving - especially helping brands transition from print to digital and incorporating responsive design features into collateral. Supporting the creative aspects of Vanguard's corporate initiatives, including developing copy about design processes and approaches, contributing to proposals, and developing estimates for product execution. Contributing to other duties as assigned. Previous Experience Previous agency experience is desirable, as are top-notch presentation skills. The ideal candidate has a love of design, takes design direction and feedback with grace, and is motivated to learn and use new tools in design. He or she also can interface directly with clients with poise and professionalism. A minimum of 7 years of experience is required for this position. Additional language skills and experience with 508 compliance are a plus, as is experience with UX/UI.
