Perspecta is an AA/EEO Employer - Minorities/Women/Veterans/Disabled and other protected categories Responsibilities Joint Engineering Teams - Sustainment (JETS) will provide USCIS with Agile development and maintenance capability to sustain their IT systems. JETS will supply Agile teams to participate in IT development and maintenance efforts, to include activities necessary for building, upgrading and sustaining previously developed systems and applications using Lean processes. The JETS team will work collaboratively with government customers and other contractors in a team-based scaled flexible and scalable approach to deliver mission value frequently, cost-effectively, responsively, and with high quality. The User Interface (UI) developer will provide technical UI leadership on program as the UI expert for the customer's technology challenges. The UI developer works on an agile team to research, test, build, and coordinate the conversion and/or integration of new products based on client requirements. The UI developer applies knowledge of UI design and implementation to improve processes, generate valid requirements, and ensure that these are consistent with the customer's enterprise technical architecture. The UI developer will be responsible for contributing to an agile process through story development, backlog grooming, and responses to ad-hoc customer priorities. The UI developer will work with Business Analysts (BA), Technical Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and client stakeholders to develop strategies and specifications to improve the performance, usability and effectiveness of user interfaces. Utilizing a User Centered Design approach, the UI Developer will synthesize information gathered from user groups, client meetings, team collaboration, best practices, and heuristic and competitive analyses to design, develop, troubleshoot, debug, and implement software code for components of the user interface. The UI developer develops the user experience concept, interface design, and architecture. Primary responsibility will be web-based UI development with secondary responsibility for non-web-based UI development. Will have responsibility for applying Lean UX concepts using the following technologies: VB, .NET, Responsive Web Design. Qualifications Responsibilities: Develops custom programs for the user interface for applications that will attract and appeal to users, and provide desired information. Possesses a thorough knowledge of user interface design techniques. Develops new user interfaces for applications through packaged and customized applications. Creates front-end user interface to new or existing databases using a combination of web-technologies, Java, .NET or other languages to make business applications accessible. Designs and implements user-driven templates, databases and interfaces for ease of use. Participate in usability reviews and lead improvements in front end design. Must be able to translate high-level requirements into interaction flows and artifacts, and transform them into beautiful, intuitive, and functional user interfaces. Collaborate with product management and engineering to define and implement innovative solutions for the UI direction, visuals and experience. Execute all visual design stages from concept to final hand-off to engineering. Conceptualize original ideas that bring simplicity and user friendliness to complex design roadblocks. Create wireframes, storyboards, user flows, process flows and site maps to effectively communicate interaction and design ideas. Present and defend designs and key milestone deliverables to peers and executive level stakeholders. Conduct user research and evaluate user feedback. Establish and promote design guidelines, best practices and standards. Addresses problems of systems integration, compatibility, and multiple platforms. Evaluates design tradeoffs, impacts on user expectations and performance levels. Performs as part of an agile team, utilizing Kanban and Scrum best practices. Collaborates frequently with other team members. Required Qualifications: 5+ years of relevant experience, with a Bachelor's in Computer Science, Engineering or other Technical degree preferred The candidate must be highly collaborative and have ability that spans all areas of the User Centered Design process Experience and comfort in leading client meetings; confidence leading portions of interviews and presentations Demonstrated ability to explain technical issues clearly/accurately to technical/non-technical audiences Experience producing wireframes, user flows, storyboards, sitemaps and prototypes that are focused on user needs and build from existing standards Experience prototyping for different types of screens/user-end experiences on different devices (eg, tablet, mobile, multi-browsers) Experience defining, designing, and executing usability testing Experience using prototyping tools (eg, Axure, Balsamiq) and Adobe Creative Suite Familiarity with user-centered design methodologies, planning and conducting user research, user testing, A/B testing, rapid prototyping / wireframes, heuristic analysis, usability and accessibility concerns User experience formal training or experience, Persona development (Desired) Experienced in graphics, layout, scripting, programming, as well as development involving compatibility and seamless integration with various technologies such as HTML5, Angular.js, Bootstrap Java and .NET Desired Skills: GitHub, JIRA experience Experience working in an Agile/Scrum development process Familiarity or experience with DHS, specifically USCIS Options
