Perspecta is an AA/EEO Employer - Minorities/Women/Veterans/Disabled and other protected categories Responsibilities We are seeking a senior level systems engineer to support our program with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), providing Systems Engineering and Technical Services (SETS). The NOAA SETS program is an enterprise systems engineering and architecture program for the NOAA satellite constellation and supporting ground systems. The selected Senior Systems Engineer will gather and analyze information that will be used to populate enterprise architecture models in support of the OSGS architecture team. This includes analyzing existing client documentation for useful data, interviewing client subject matter experts and participating in enterprise architecture development meeting/workshops. Capture this information using Government provided tools being used for this task [Magic Draw]. Assist in developing detailed target (To-Be) architecture concepts and artifacts, and a roadmap to evolve from the existing to the target architecture incrementally based on the NESDIS mission timeline over the next decade. Gather and analyzing alternatives for the legacy polar and geostationary ground systems to determine viable options for evolving these systems as OSGS maps out a path to an enterprise ground system. This includes strategies for conducting IT refresh or technical upgrades of the legacy systems that align with the ground enterprise and establish convergence toward the target enterprise by 2022. The selected Engineer shall work closely with the operations and sustainment managers in executing this task. Leverage the technologies utilized by the next generation mission ground systems (GOES-R and JPSS) in the analyses, recommendations, and development of an execution plan to achieve the target architecture. Will provide expert consultation in one or more areas for the design, development and implementation of technical products and systems. Will be recognized as technical leader and resource and will recommend alterations and enhancements to improve quality of products and/or procedures. Responsible for all internal activities and product development. Demonstrates expertise in a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. The work will be performed at the NOAA Satellite Operations Facility in Suitland, MD. Qualifications Requires 10 to 12+ years' experience with a BS/BA in Engineering or a related technical discipline. 8 to 10 years' experience with a MS/MA is acceptable. Requires enterprise level architecture experience. Detailed understanding of satellites and supporting ground systems Experience with Cloud technologies and best practices is desired.
