Reinventing Geospatial, Inc. (RGi) is looking for a talented and motivated Geospatial Software Engineer to join our team! The Software Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, and delivering geospatial software solutions for the US Army Corps of Engineers and US Naval Special Warfare Command customers to help them achieve mission success. An ideal candidate would excel at software design, development, and testing using a variety of skills across the computer science and geospatial data science fields. The Software Engineer will use modern software development practices to create novel geospatial-enabled capabilities for things like routing, navigation, data sharing, and data visualization. The candidate should be motivated, self-starting, and able to work well within a team environment where everyones success is shared. The Software Engineer's primary duties will be carried out in our Fairfax office. Geospatial Software Engineer Responsibilities Design, develop, and test software capabilities involving route planning and turn-by-turn directions using road data taken from OpenStreetMap or similar servicesAct independently to support software development efforts across a range of platforms and stakeholders through excellent interdisciplinary knowledge of the software stack and DevOps proceduresPerform thorough technical analysis of software challenges related to performance, network connectivity, and data management; Document and recommend solutions to those challenges to the team, customer(s), and other stakeholdersBuild a vast working knowledge of common off-the-shelf software products, APIs, and solutions in the geospatial market in order to ensure our customers are successful in their missionAssist in technical planning, deployment, test & validation, and modernization of legacy software to meet the changing needs of today Geospatial Software Engineer Basic Qualifications US citizenshipSecret security clearance, or the ability to obtain one. TS/SCI clearance is preferred. We will sponsor clearances if you do not have one.Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field3-6 yrs. of related experience in the design and development of software projects with the following qualifications: Software development targeting different platforms, leveraging technologies across the software stack such as databases, web servers, UIs, web services, etc.Demonstrated proficiency in a software development language such as Java/Android, C#, or another object-oriented languageContinuous Building, Testing, and IntegrationWriting unit tests using automated testing frameworks (Junit, Mocha, QUnit) Geospatial Software Engineer Desired Skills Previous participation on an Agile team, either as an individual contributor or as a SCRUM Team leader, product owner, or similar roleTechnical leadership for a software development project, including customer requirements gathering, communication, and planningExperience with tools used for the manipulation and processing of geospatial data (GDAL, OGR, PostGIS)Experience deploying, configuring and managing databases and schemas (PostGIS, SQLite)Experience creating or leveraging open-source geospatial libraries (Leaflet, OpenLayers, GeoServer)High-level software architecture design experience in an object-oriented language such as JavaExperience leveraging libraries using the Java Native Interface (JNI) Who We Are Reinventing Geospatial Inc.
