Responsibilities Be involved in every phase of the software lifecycle (requirements, development, deployment, monitoring). Help plan, design, build and operationalize platform systems supporting commercial services. Develop operational tools and processes that support Operating Level Agreements (OLAs) and Service Level Agreements (SLAs) for services. Provide subject matter expertise in the operation of system automation and network infrastructure, deployment of global scale anycast services and operation of the DNS services platform. Continued development to enhance the orchestration automation environment. Provide hands-on, direct engagement with deployment and operationalization of infrastructure, operations and delivery of services. Coordinate with Platform Architects and engineering teams associated with the edge node redesign project to deploy new nodes leveraging the new orchestration model. Identification of team members' capability and utilize to the advantage of the organization. Ensure team members are adequately trained. Delivery of highly available, highly reliable, scalable product. Customer centric focus: manage internal customers and stakeholders effectively and ensure high levels of satisfaction. Inculcates a culture of Innovation and high quality in teams. Work in fast paced development environment, interacting with product owners, business analysts, testers and developers. Lead and mentor development operations teams. Traits of an Ideal Candidate Demonstrated expertise operating a world-class anycast DNS platform. Willingness to learn: you use the best tool for the job, even if it requires learning something new. Process-oriented: you like to automate things and improve the development workflow. Diligent: you write tests and do everything in your power to ensure code is shipped frequently and without issue. Product-focused: you work well with product managers and designers to create compelling user experiences. Skills & Qualifications 12+ years of software or operations engineering experience and at least 7 years of operational responsibility. Computer Science or Engineering degree from a 4-year program. Track record of operating production-level, always available platforms. DNS expertise with full understanding of the DNS protocol, other Internet protocols used in operating a global DNS platform (IP anycast, BGP, etc.) and system level capabilities to operate actual DNS systems. Hands-on experience with a diversity of technologies within their specific domain of specialization, operating in highly scalable, highly reliable and highly secure solution landscapes. Proven design skills. Ensuring appropriately robust requirements are defined and used to ensure high quality and cost-effective solutions are consistently delivered across the organization. Proven analysis skills. Mapping specific solution requirements and common functional and non-functional requirement patterns to specific technical capability and associated solution technologies. Must have proven communication skills. In a key technical leadership role, it is critical that clear communication is a constant with both technical and business audiences. Must be passionate about driving change for solution differentiation as well as cost-effective operations through a combination of evolution and revolution. Must be able to separate between the "cool", "fundamental" and "hype" aspects of technologies and communicate about those technologies effectively to solution and operations engineering teams and management. Experience working on strategic relationships with partners and the development of ecosystems and standards. Autonomous and self-starter. Experience with test driven development. Relevant Technology Javascript (ES6), HTML, CSS MySQL or Postgres Node.js React.js / Redux Webpack + Babel Java Linux, FreeBSD, and/or Mac OS X preferred Engineering and Operations Culture at Neustar Follow best practices.
