We are looking for a Health Educator for a local Health Department. This position will support the Communicable and Vector-Borne Disease Program within the Environmental Health/Disease Control Division.
Hours: Mon-Fri; 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.
Location: Cleverly, MD
The incumbent provides investigative disease control work to identify, control and prevent the occurrence of communicable/infectious diseases in the County. Subject to extensive public contact. Services are provided in various clinical and community settings while complying with applicable programmatic/public health regulations, standards and laws. Some investigations may need to be conducted after hours and/or on weekends.
Examples of Work:
Assists in conducting epidemiological investigations of communicable disease problems in the County; conducts interviews, field investigations, and provides appropriate case follow-up with clients and contacts and follow up of animal exposures ; identifies contacts and susceptible; reduces transmission of diseases through various modes of interventions and educational outreach efforts to clients and the general public; identifies risks and prevention of communicable diseases; documents findings and activities within established time frames and modes of reporting; and enters data in surveillance data base and completes routine and as needed reports.
