Early Head Start Family Child Care Specialist (Child Care Specialist I)
Assists in providing comprehensive services to children and families enrolled in the Early Head Start Family Child Care Program. Provides support services to family child care providers in the implementation of the Head Start Program Performance Standards through bi-weekly visits. Responsible for case management and documentation using the ChildPlus software system, recruitment and enrollment of eligible families, implementation of curriculum, tracking of health requirements and the provision of family services. Provides training and technical assistance to Early Head Start designated family child care providers. Some evening and weekend work required. Duties are performed under the supervision of the Head Start Coordinator.Employment Standards MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Any combination of education, training, and experience equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with a degree in early childhood education, psychology, social work, or a closely related field; plus some responsible experience in day care administration or early child development programs.
CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED:Driver's license required upon hire.
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in early childhood education, child development, psychology, human services, social work or a closely related field; plus two or more years of full-time equivalent experiences in the following areas: working with children ages birth through 36 months; child care or early childhood administration; and, coaching adult learners in the implementation of curriculum. Fluent in Spanish (written and spoken).
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
The appointee to the position must satisfactorily complete a criminal background check, Child Protective Services Registry check, and driving record check.
Sufficiently mobile to interact appropriately with infants and toddlers. Ability to independently operate a motor vehicle and travel throughout the county to family child care provider homes to meet with families and community agencies. Ability to use automated technology and input, access, and retrieve information from a computer. Ability to stand, stoop, bend, stretch, walk, climb, sit and type on a keyboard and the ability to lift 30 - 50 pounds. All duties performed with or without reasonable accommodations.
