Arlington County's Department of Human Services' (DHS) Human Resources Bureau may have an opportunity for you! Arlington County seeks an experienced and motivated Human Resources Analyst with a proven track record of providing generalist services and guidance to employees.
DHS is an integrated department of 700 employees who strive to make a real difference in people's lives by providing outstanding human services to include public heath, behavioral health, child and family services, aging and disability services, and economic independence services.

Specific duties include:
- Assisting managers with recruitment and position classifications;
- Providing guidance and coordination of performance management and appraisal procedures (probationary and yearly);
- Developing and providing training on various Human Resources topics to management and non-management employees;
- Providing guidance to managers/employees in resolution of employee relations issues;
- Interpreting, applying, and guiding employees on County and departmental regulations and policies;
- Collecting data, preparing reports, and conducting analysis;
- Managing special projects specific to the area of responsibility; and
- Co- facilitation of the Limited English Proficiency work group
The selected candidate will need strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills. The ability to actively listen and analyze situations to effectively provide guidance, as well as organizational and planning skills are required. To be successful in this role you will need to be able to address sensitive situations and maintain confidentiality. You must be able to independently prioritize work; adhere to, establish and communicate deadlines as well as problem solve to research problems and identify solutions.

Selection Criteria
Minimum: Bachelor's degree in Human Resource Management, Public/Business Administration, or related field plus generalist experience including recruitment, performance management, and employee relations.
Substitution: Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for the education requirement on a year-for-year basis. A Master's degree in a closely related field may substitute for up to one year of general human resources experience.
Desirables: Preference may be given candidates with one or more of the following:
- Certification as PHR or SHRM-CP;
- Training and development experience; and/or
- Working in a local government.

Work hours: 8:00 a.m. 5:00 p.m. Monday - Friday.
This position is part of an alternative pay program that includes career path and pay-for-performance elements. Starting pay within the band is based on a review of qualifications and experience. Pay potential will be based on performance.
