The George Mason University College of Education and Human Development (CEHD) Office of Student and Academic Affairs (SAA) invites applications for a part-time, non-student/student wage Administrative Assistant, Student Success who will provide administrative support to the CEHD Student Success Team and assist with front desk operations, student success initiatives, and events. Located just a short distance from Washington, D.C., CEHD is a dynamic academic unit committed to innovation and excellence in its research and teaching activities. The Administrative Assistant, Student Success, reporting to the Director of Student Success, will be responsible for performing the following functions:
- Provide general administrative support to the CEHD Student Success Team, including the Student Success Coordinator, Student Retention Coordinator, Student Communications Coordinator, Student Enrichment Coordinator, and Office Manager;
- Offer planning, logistical, and staffing support for events, workshops, campaigns, and activities powered by CEHD SAA; and
- Assist with front desk operations including greeting and assisting visitors to CEHD SAA; delivering quality customer service; assessing visitor needs; making appropriate referrals; scheduling appointments; and answering incoming calls.
Required Qualifications: * Bachelorâ€™s degree, or an equivalent combination of education and experience * Demonstrated experience providing administrative support to professional staff * Demonstrated experience organizing, or assisting with, events, workshops, and/or activities * Demonstrated experience performing office functions such as answering multiline phones, scheduling appointments, and greeting and assisting visitors * Excellent skills with Microsoft Office suite, namely Word, PowerPoint, and Excel * Strong database experience * Strong attention to detail * Ability to adapt to changes in a fast-paced, interactive work environment * Excellent customer service skills * Strong ability to multitask and prioritize * Excellent verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills * Strong work ethic and passion for student success Preferred Qualifications: * Experience working in a higher education environment with diverse student populations * Experience proofreading and editing * Experience with photography/videography and/or photo/video editing and archiving * Experience using desktop publishing software * Experience using Ellucian Banner, Student Success Collaborative, and/or customer relationship management (CRM), such as Salesforce
