Overview

The American Enterprise Institute seeks an associate (title and salary are flexible, commensurate with experience) for its Values & Capitalism initiative, which engages Christian higher education to advance a moral case for free enterprise and foster broader conversations about faith, public policy, economics, and society. In partnership with a community of faculty members, administrators, and professionals, the Values & Capitalism team seeks — through a variety of means — to equip Christian college students with the knowledge, networks, and opportunities necessary to be thoughtful leaders in their vocations and future careers.

The person in this role will support the director of Values & Capitalism and work alongside the Values & Capitalism assistant in executing a strategic and results-oriented plan to accomplish this mission.

The position’s primary responsibilities include communicating both AEI and Values & Capitalism’s missions and research to students, professors, and administrators; helping plan and execute major conferences in Washington, DC, and around the country; coordinating and recruiting students for an educational summer honors program in Washington, DC; planning and recruiting students for a weekend honors program on faith and entrepreneurship; recruiting students and coordinating on-campus programming through AEI Executive Councils (AEI’s on-campus student leadership program); assisting with the production of digital and written educational resources, including books, essays, videos, and short films; maintaining databases to keep track of current and former students and academic partners; and liaising with AEI’s scholars to help facilitate their engagement with colleges and universities.

Successful candidates will be detail oriented and organized self-starters with strong interpersonal communication and writing skills; familiar with AEI’s scholarship; able to meet deadlines, multitask, and prioritize; and have a keen interest in promoting AEI’s research to an academic audience and engaging students and faculty in conversations about faith, public policy, and economics.

A bachelor’s degree is required. Familiarity with think tanks, student programs, and the Christian higher education landscape are preferred. The candidate should have 1–3 years of relevant work experience. Depending on the candidate’s experience the position has the flexibility to begin at the assistant or senior associate level.

Qualified applicants should submit a resume, a cover letter, college transcript(s), and a 500-word writing sample with the online application to www.aei.org/jobs.

About AEI

The American Enterprise Institute (AEI) is a public policy think tank dedicated to defending human dignity, expanding human potential, and building a freer and safer world.  The work of its scholars and staff advances ideas rooted in a belief in democracy, free enterprise, American strength and global leadership, solidarity with those at the periphery of our society, and a pluralistic, entrepreneurial culture.

AEI is committed to making the intellectual, moral, and practical case for expanding freedom, increasing individual opportunity, and strengthening the free enterprise system in America and around the world.  Its work explores ideas that further these goals, and AEI scholars take part in this pursuit with academic freedom.  AEI operates independently of any political party and has no institutional positions.  Its scholars’ conclusions are fueled by rigorous, data-driven research and broad-ranging evidence.
