Information about position
The National Ready Mixed Concrete Association is a non-profit trade association representing the ready mixed concrete industry. The Research Laboratory is a 5000 sq.ft. facility in College Park that includes basic and some advanced testing equipment for testing concrete, aggregates and other construction materials. The Association conducts funded research and performs contract testing using ASTM and AASHTO standard test methods. It maintains accreditation under the AASHTO Accreditation Program that requires periodic inspections for conformance to its Quality System and participation in proficiency sample testing programs. There are two other personnel at the facility in addition to engineering professionals at the headquarters office in Silver Spring, Maryland who direct the activities at the Research Laboratory.
- Planning, scheduling and conducting aggregate and concrete tests; documenting procedures, data entry of test results.
- Support functions in the Laboratory Quality System to maintain its AASHTO accreditation status. Schedule and manage typical maintenance of laboratory equipment and facility.
- Support the conduct of planned research projects and contract testing to ensure timely reporting.
At least 1-year experience testing concrete, aggregate, cement and other construction materials. Must be self-motivated, have good communication skills, and be a team player. Should have basic skills at computer operations with proficiency in MS Word and Excel. Must be mechanically inclined. Position requires ability to perform physical tasks in a construction laboratory setting. Knowledge of test standards, laboratory quality control procedures and construction specifications desired. Must attain ACI certification within 6 months. High school diploma/GED desired.
