Job Description Summary

The Montgomery College, Takoma Park/Silver Spring Campus, is currently accepting applications for possible openings as a part-time faculty member teaching Graphic Design/Typography for the 2019 spring semester. We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated teacher who exhibits a high degree of professionalism, a strong commitment to our students, and demonstrates the ability to motivate and educate in an engaging manner.

***Montgomery College accepts applications for Adjunct/Part-time Faculty on a continuous basis. Applications may be reviewed periodically based on the student enrollment needs. ***

  • The listing of a course in the schedule of classes as “TBA” does not constitute an assignment.
  • The hiring decision for part-time faculty involves an academic judgment and shall be determined at Management's sole discretion.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Teach graphic design/typography in an AFA program with an emphasis on context, culture and design.
  • Adhere to college curriculum and course outcomes.
  • Manage classroom attendance and record grades in a timely manner.
  • Use Blackboard for course management.
  • Communicate effectively with students and colleagues using email.
  • Provide advising to students.

Required Qualifications:

  • Master of Fine Arts (or equivalent degree) in visual art or graphic design.
  • Experience teaching art, graphic design, design or equivalent professional experience.
  • Eligible applicants must currently be authorized to work in the United States and not require employer visa sponsorship.

 Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience integrating general education principles into graphic design classes.
  • Experience integrating technology into course delivery.
  • College-level teaching experience preferred (Graduate school teaching assistant experience is applicable if applicant was the instructor of record).
  • Experience teaching at a community college or teaching diverse student populations.
