Westat is an employee-owned corporation providing research services to agencies of the U.S. Government, as well as businesses, foundations, and state and local governments. Westat's research, technical, and administrative staff of more than 2,000 is located at our headquarters in Rockville, Maryland, near Washington, DC.

Job Summary:

Westat is seeking qualified undergraduate interns to begin work on research projects in January 2019. Project assignments will depend on Westat's need for assistance and on a collaborative decision-making process between the intern and the internship assignment supervisor. This position is a part-time internship where the selected candidate will be able to work up to 20 hours a week. This internship will end May 31, 2019. Applications must be submitted by November 17, 2018 to be considered for the program.

Job Responsibilities:

· Conducting literature reviews on topics related to the assigned projects. · Developing search criteria and summarizing articles into abstracts or reports. · Assisting in the development of data collection instruments; · Assisting local public health agencies in developing program literature for prospective clients and educational materials for Westat. · Analyzing program data and participating in program evaluations. · Conducting knowledge synthesis, and preparing and disseminating information and products that support knowledge transfer and adoption. · Attending in-house project meetings with clients.

Basic qualifications:

· Must be registered as a senior-year student in a bachelor's degree program. · Must also submit a cover letter and resume.

Preferred qualifications:

· Students who are studying public health and are enrolled at the University of Maryland.
Strong written and oral communication skills, organizational skills,  problem solving skills, and computer skills, as well as an ability to exercise independent judgment, work collaboratively in teams, and demonstrate attention to detail, are essential.
