Position Overview:

Assists the Director, Legal Content with the operational, editorial, and production activities of assigned content sets and workflow tools by leading a team of direct reports servicing disparate content sets.

Primary Responsibilities:

An employee of this classification performs most of the following, as assigned:

Leads team in support of top-line growth through the expansion of innovative, technology-enhanced content, data, analysis and tools to solve customer problems in the legal, professional and financial markets Delivers high-value, high-ROI customer-focused content in response to the information and workflow requirements of the target market. Optimizes resources for significant bottom-line impact, with emphasis on technological advancement Coordinates with subject matter experts/content analysts in the development of special project content Follows major legal developments in assigned content areas and identifies content creation or updating needs Flags opportunities to create tools to improve attorney workflow and is able to make informed recommendations as to scope, lift and market impact of such tools. Ensures  team meets special project requirements and deadlines Develops and maintains sources and professional contacts in the government and private sectors. Demonstrates a full understanding of the features and functionality of the Bloomberg Law platform, Bloomberg Government and the Bloomberg Terminal, and sets standards for team to do the same Demonstrates awareness of the competitive landscape, including traditional and non-traditional legal research providers Ensures news channel counterparts for subject areas are fully apprised of any new data and analytics created for Bloomberg Law Coordinates with Director, Legal Content,  to adjust staffing and processes to ensure effective use of resources and timeliness of deliverables Leads a high performing team, supports the development of talent and capabilities of assigned staff. Takes appropriate action in the implementation of disciplinary actions and terminations, as warranted.  

Job Requirements:

Proven ability to interact effectively with direct reports and colleagues in a team environment. Proven ability to identify, nurture and leverage talent within the organization Proven ability to proactively identify new product possibilities and to develop a business case to support development Proven ability to prioritize content resources; can identify  lower value content and make recommendations for removal or de-prioritization Demonstrated creativity in new product development. Demonstrated creativity and proactivity in solving problems and providing solutions; communicates effectively in meetings, via email or otherwise. Demonstrated mastery of legal research and analysis in federal and state regulatory, legislative, and judicial processes. Demonstrated proficiency with online publishing systems, including the ability to optimize materials for electronic platforms, such as through the use of metadata or AI. Demonstrated mastery of integrating workflow tools with other Bloomberg Law research materials Demonstrated proficiency in the tools and content on the Bloomberg Law platform, including dockets, Litigation Analytics, Points of Law, Draft Analyzer, Precedent Search, EDGAR, Business Intelligence, Enforcement Analytics and additional  tools as developed.  Proficiency includes an understanding of Bloomberg Law Search, Source Trees, Autocomplete and other features and functionality Demonstrated proficiency in leading a team to complete assigned research and writing projects within deadlines. Superior editing and organizational skills, including proficiency in the use of Jira, Confluence, Excel and other business management software programs.  

 

Education and Experience:

 

Bachelor’s degree required; English or Journalism preferred.  Master’s degree or J.D. preferred. A minimum of 7 years’ relevant experience which includes writing or legal research tool creation, substantive editing of complex materials. At least 3 years of management experience successfully leading large scale projects in a collaborative team environment.
