Social Science Advisor/Natural Resource Specialist

The number of semester hours required to constitute a major field of study is the amount specified by the college or university attended. If this number cannot be obtained, 24 semester hours will be considered as equivalent to a major field of study.
GS-0101: Degree: behavioral or social science; or related disciplines appropriate to the position.
Combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.
Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.
GS-0401: Degree: biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position.
Combination of education and experience: Courses equivalent to a major, as shown above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
GS-12: One year specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level is defined as: Coordinating and implementing programs for natural resource management and/or sustainable integrated development; Providing expertise and advice in the program areas of international natural resources management including forest inventory and monitoring and remote sensing; Developing scientific communications materials; Managing budgets by monitoring obligations and expenditures.
GS-13: One year specialized expereince equivalent to the GS-12 grade level is defined as: Coordinating, implementing, and providing technical assistance for programs, initiatives, and activities focused on natural resource management and/or sustainable integrated development; Providing expertise and technical guidance in the program areas of international natural resources management and sustainable management including forest inventory and monitoring and remote sensing; Developing scientific communications materials; Managing budgets by monitoring obligations and expenditures, and analyzing and reporting on funding pipelines.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
