This is an exciting opportunity to work in our Medication Assisted Treatment program. The incumbent will be responsible for assessment and psychiatric care of clients with opioid use disorders which will include prescribing Suboxone and other psychotropic medications. This will be in an outpatient setting working with clients who may have a wide range of psychiatric disorders. Works as an integral member of a multidisciplinary treatment team with our rapidly expanding MAT (medication assisted treatment) . Provides expert consultation and guidance regarding diagnosis and treatment planning. Duties will include evaluations, assessments, medication management, coordination of care with therapist/case managers and with primary care providers. Performs urine drug screens with other nurses on the team and would need to be able to give injections such as Vivitrol. Our RNs and LPNs are the primary staff responsible for UDS and injections. Documents all clinical information into an electronic health record with e-prescribing. Adheres to and complies with all relevant local, state, federal and regulatory standards. The incumbent needs to have or be eligible for DEA waiver to prescribe Suboxone.
Nurse Positions will include bonus amount of $2,000 for full time positions

Illustrative Duties

Provides services in consultation and collaboration with a licensed patient care team physician as part of a patient care team.
Performs physical examinations and records findings in clients' records;
Performs orders and interprets laboratory work and diagnostic procedures;
Assesses state of clients' health by obtaining medical, psychological and social histories;
Confers with physicians on abnormal results requiring physician's intervention;
Develops treatment plans, including prescribing medications, reviewing plans with clients to assess level of understanding;
Monitors treatments as required;
Refers clients to other health care providers;
Provides health education, counseling and guidance to clients and families;
Develops health education materials;
Develops and presents various training and orientation programs for nursing personnel, health care providers and other agency staff members.

Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of public health nurse practitioner/medical theory and practice;
Knowledge of various laboratory tests and diagnostic procedures;
Knowledge of effects of prescribed medications and when their usage is indicated;
Ability to obtain histories and perform physical examinations, laboratory tests and diagnostic procedures;
Ability to assess medical records and results of tests;
Ability to communicate effectively with clients, medical professionals, health care professionals and citizens.

Employment Standards MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor's degree in nursing; plus a master's degree in nursing as a clinical nurse practitioner. Depending upon area of assignment, may require one year of experience as a certified nurse practitioner.

Licensed to Practice as a Nurse Practitioner in the state of Virginia. Has obtained national certification as a nurse practitioner.

The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background check, a driving record check, a Child Protective Services Registry, and a check with the Office of the Inspector General (OIG) to the satisfaction of the employer.

Ability to provide nursing care/assistance including assisting large adults in hygiene and personal care; sit, walk, stand, bend, write as needed; use keyboard to enter data in electronic health record and review data on computer monitor; observe client behavior/appearance & converse with coworkers in person and on phone. All duties performed with or without reasonable accommodations.

Experience with the prescribing of Suboxone and the treatment of substance use disorders especially opioid use disorders in a community setting. Experience working in outpatient setting. Proficient with EMR/EHR
