Asset Protection / Loss Prevention Security Guard, Flex: Annapolis Mall
Job Overview: The Security Guard's primary responsibility is to deter theft, communicate suspicious activity to the Asset Protection/Loss Prevention Department, maintain a safe business environment, and provide strong customer service. The Security Guard is primarily stationed at customer entrances and monitors customer traffic entering and exiting the store. Performs other duties as assigned. While you won't have assigned shifts or guaranteed hours each week, you'll have maximum flexibility to earn money - and a generous employee discount - around your personal schedule. On key days or peak shopping times, however - like a One Day Sale or the week leading up to Valentine's Day - you will be assigned a shift. These assigned shifts are based on preferences that you set and update periodically during the year.Essential Functions:Successfully complete all Asset Protection/Loss Prevention training requirements including CPR and First Aid and maintain personal certifications as required by lawMonitor high shortage areas such as receiving and jewelry as needed; may perform audit functions Use two-way communication devices to maintain contact with Store Detectives to ensure store safetyPrepare prompt and complete reports relative to all theft incidents, merchandise recoveries, accident investigations, audits, and other activities as assigned by the Asset Protection/Loss Prevention ManagerHave knowledge of and maintain strict compliance with the law and company policies concerning apprehensions, searches and seizures, and the preservation of evidenceRegular, dependable attendance and punctualityQUALIFICATIONS:Education/Experience:High School Diploma or equivalent. Some college isdesirable. Completion of Store Agent Trainingprogram required upon assignment to position. Communication Skills:Effective written and verbal skills, ability to interpretinstructional documents such as safetyrules, operating and maintenance instructions, andprocedure manuals. Excellent written and verbalcommunication skills.Physical Demands:This position involves regular walking, standing, hearing, and talking. Extended periods of sitting arealso involved. Some kneeling, stooping, crouching, orcrawling may be involved. Involves moving and/orlifting at least 30 lbs. Specific vision abilities includeclose vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheralvision, depth perception, and the ability to adjustfocus. Ability to use restraints in an apprehension.Ability to sustain long periods of time enclosed insurveillance areas. Involves close vision, color vision,depth perception, and focus adjustment.Other Skills:Must be able to operate cameras and othersurveillance equipment. Ability to think and act clearlyin possible stressful and hostile situations. Ability tocollaborate and function as a member of a team.Must possess a strong sense of urgency.
