    The successful candidate must have an advanced degree in economics, public policy, or a related field; a strong background in economics; quantitative analytical experience in economics, tax policy, or a closely related field; experience using large microdata files; demonstrated ability with statistical software or high-level programming languages; the ability to clearly present work orally and in writing to nontechnical audiences; excellent communication and interpersonal skills; the ability to initiate and complete projects independently and as a team member; and a desire to work on issues of current and potential legislative interest to the Congress. Experience related to federal tax or transfer policies is preferred but not required.
    The successful candidate must have passed or be able to pass a Tier 2 (public trust) investigation, which includes a credit check. A higher-level security clearance may be accepted instead.
