  • Basic Qualifications:
    Bachelor's or graduate/higher level degree: major study in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position. This degree must be from an educational program from an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (https://ope.ed.gov/accreditation) at the time the degree was obtained.

    Additional Qualifications:
    GS-12

    In addition to meeting the basic qualifications, you must demonstrate one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: analyzing and evaluating issues associated with biomedical research programs and/or science policies; conducting strategic planning activities related to health policy; analyzing biomedical research-related science policies; and preparing scientific documents and position papers.
    GS-13
    In addition to meeting the basic qualifications, you must demonstrate one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: assessing the effectiveness of biomedical research programs and/or science policies; advising on biomedical research programs or policies; analyzing biomedical research data to develop scientific reports and draw conclusions; and presenting analyses with recommendations to senior scientific staff.

    Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
