  • Your background must demonstrate a full range of Electronics Mechanic duties on my own initiative, with general supervision. I operate and maintain fire alarm systems; repair fire alarm systems and assist with the performance of field-engineering analyses on fire alarm systems and associated equipment ensuring they meet minimum requirements and system integrity.

    EXPERIENCE: A specific length of training and experience is not required, but you must show evidence of training or experience of sufficient scope and quality of your ability to do the work of this position. Evidence which demonstrates you possess the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the duties of this position must be supported by detailed descriptions of such on your resume or OF-612.     Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.     SCREEN-OUT ELEMENT: Your qualifications will first be evaluated against the prescribed screen out element, which usually appears as question 1 in the on-line questionnaire. Those applicants who appear to possess at least the minimal acceptable qualification requirement are considered for further rating; those who do not are rated ineligible and are eliminated. The potential eligibles are then rated against the remainder of the questions.     PHYSICAL EFFORT/REQUIREMENTS: Works from ladders scaffolds and catwalks and in hard to reach areas. Stoops, bends, kneels, and climbs in the performance of duties. Must often assume uncomfortable positions. Frequently lifts, handles, and carries equipment weighing up to 50 lbs and occasionally over 50 lbs. Work requires a considerable amount of walking.

    WORKING CONDITIONS: Works in the Pentagon Building and various other locations. Work is usually confined to indoor locations but occasionally requires outdoor work where exposure to heat and cols is possible. Is subject to quick variations in temperature, exposure to acids and fumes from batteries and various other agents, electric shock , high voltage conditions, falls from ladders, and cuts and bruises from tools and heavy equipment. Frequently works in awkward positions and potentially hazardous areas. Is subject to exposure to asbestos panicles while working in ceiling areas.
