Applicants applying for the GS-13 grade level must meet the following requirements:
Have IT-related experience demonstrating EACH of the four competencies AND specialized experience listed below:
- Attention to Detail - Coordinates the completion of scheduled activities such as annual reviews of System Security Plans, annual testing of Contingency Plans, Assessment and Authorization of new applications, and the re-certification of baseline applications.
- Customer Service - Conducts extensive, high level research, usually complex analysis, and risk assessment of security functions, involving emerging, highly controversial and unprecedented issues.
- Oral Communication - Promotes the use of security services through presentations and represents the office with customers, external partners, vendors and suppliers.
- Problem Solving - Makes decisions or recommendations that significantly influences important agency IT policies or programs, applies new solutions to highly complex compliance and security related issues, and develops policies and guidance that address process improvement controls, techniques, and mechanism.
Have at least 1 full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level in the Federal service which provided you with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position. Qualifying specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience serving as a subject matter expert (SME) on compliance, security, and IT Change Control Board related issues.
Experience leading IT security information program initiatives and developing appropriate analytical framework products.
Experience conducting risk assessments of security functions.
Experience coordinating with IT program managers and customers.
Experience preparing and presenting authoritative briefings to senior management officials on complex IT issues.
NOTE: In order to qualify for this position, your experience MUST be IT related; the experience may be demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training (for example, IT certification), as appropriate.
There is no substitute of education for specialized experience for the GS-13 position.
