Lourie Center - Early Head Start Program

Education Operation Manager with the guidance of the Lourie Center Head Start Program Director and direction from the Head Start Performance Standards will guide the short term and long range planning for education and child development service delivery; function as liaison and information conduit between leadership staff and community partners. Oversee all administrative, personnel and internal functions of the branch location. Work Schedule:

  • Engage in a system of relational, reciprocal, regular data feedback and data utilization for individualized professional development for teaching staff and continuous program improvement.
  • Participate in Communities of Practices and lead monthly reflective supervision to support teaching staff's professional growth.
  • Support and ensure that a continuity of care model to help children develop secure relationships is implement.
  • Implement, document, and demonstrate an understanding of the importance of multiple perspectives and have the skills to be successful in their interdisciplinary efforts.
  • Participate in Service Area Coordination as scheduled.
  • In support of ongoing, intensive professional development, will attend and participate in all scheduled trainings, engage in coaching with their Early Childhood Specialist, and in collaboration with the Specialist will develop individual plans for their own professional development.
  • Train and coach teachers in the Tools of the Mind Curriculum with the focus on integration of Teaching Strategies GOLD which is aligned with the Head Start Early Learning Outcomes Framework and Maryland Early Learning Standards.
  • Support teachers in the development of Individual Care, and Individual Plans for each child using all relevant child and classroom level data in collaboration with the child's families. Monitor the plans, ensure documentation is uploaded into ChildPlus data management system and update as necessary.
  • Coordinate referrals in collaboration with teacher and family for children with suspected special needs or behavioral concerns with guidance from the Disabilities coordinator.
  • Use assessment data during team planning meetings to guide curriculum, and group plan decisions that impact children's and an individual child's school readiness.
  • Collaborate with Family Service Worker, Teacher and Family in the development and implementation transition plans a year prior to child's entry into kindergarten.
  • Support teachers in using the playground as an extension of the classroom.
  • Conduct the health and safety check and ensure teachers also follow with health and safety procedures.
