Assistant Director of Global Affairs Program

The George Mason University Global Affairs Program seeks applicants for an Assistant Director of Global Affairs to begin January 2019. This is 12-month, renewable term (non-tenured) appointment. The Global Affairs Program (GLOA) is a large, dynamic, interdisciplinary degree program where faculty from diverse disciplinary backgrounds such as anthropology, economics, history, sociology, and political science form a vibrant academic community. Responsibilities: This position carries both teaching and administrative duties. The Assistant Director serves as the Global Affairs undergraduate coordinator for the Program in Masons College of Humanities and Social Sciences. As undergraduate coordinator, the incumbent will be responsible for advising Global Affairs majors; and organizing and administering program activities, including freshman and transfer student orientations, internships and the honors program.

This instructional faculty position carries a teaching load of two courses in each of the Fall and Spring semesters, and one course in the Summer. Experience in interdisciplinary teaching and administration preferred.

Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in social sciences and humanities is required; and
  • Experience in interdisciplinary teaching and administration is preferred.
