This position primarily involves the oversight and implementation of all mental-health data-related systems, which includes development of national surveys, the collection and analysis of national mental-health data, the presentation and reporting of national mental-health data, and a liaison between state and Federal entities and the Behavioral Health Services Information system (BHSIS) contract staff. 

The position holder is responsible for:

  • Enlisting state mental-health agencies and other key mental-health stakeholders in the process of designing, developing, and implementing an integrated behavioral health client-level data system
  • Consultative support and guidance in mental-health data collection and data analysis, particularly data collected through the Treatment Episode Data Set (TEDS), Mental Health-TEDS, National Mental Health Services Survey (N-MHSS), and an online treatment facility locator
  • Guiding integration of the mental health/substance abuse data collection efforts through the TEDS framework
  • Inform and support the Program Director on all matters relative to state and national mental health policies; and mental health data collection, analysis, and reporting


  • Master’s Degree in health management, health administration, public health, psychology, social sciences or related healthcare field
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience working in the mental-health field
  • Experience analyzing and reporting on mental-health data
  • Should have a deep understanding of the nation’s mental-health system
  • Must be knowledgeable of Federal and state mental-health policies
