AboutWeb is seeking a J2EE Technical Architect/Senior Developer for one of our client's Agile Government engagements. Work onsite with the customer to understand their long-term vision, business processes, and ensure the application evolves and adapts to emerging technologies and best practices. Develop, deliver and support a web-based application from design through implementation. Drive the technical vision within the team; develop prototypes from business and technical requirements. Serve as a key leader within the Program and mentor for the development team. Work with the Client Manager to drive additional opportunities through a shared technical vision with the customer.
Required Experience & Skills
  • 10+ years of relevant IT services experience specifically in the Java/J2EE field; must have prior experience in a Technical Architect capacity
  • Solid experience working directly with customers
  • Experience in Java technologies including Eclipse/Spring Tool Suite, Hibernate, Spring, Wildfly/JBoss
  • Exposure to strategic/emerging technologies and industry best practices desired. Examples include microservices, container management/Docker, and Spring Boot
  • Hands on coding experience with Java, JSP, REST web services, HTML5, Angular JS required
  • Prior experience with object-oriented analysis and design, including use case development, class modeling, J2EE design patterns, and UML required
  • Solid understanding/experience on Spring modules (core, web, security, rest, jpa, aop etc.)
  • Knowledge of / support of defining the User Experience; awareness of the practices that help develop a "good user experience
  • Proven experience in a lead technical role, including Sales Support, required
  • Applied knowledge of Wildfly/JBoss and Configuration Management Processes is highly desirable
  • Strong understanding of DevOps Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) processes. Exposure to tools such as Jenkins, SonarQube, SortSite, and Docker desired.
  • Support application release, verification, and auditing processes
  • Strong trouble shooting skills required. Able to assist with issue identification, investigation, and resolution for the production application.
  • Experienced with architectural frameworks that promote the understanding of the application's capabilities and interfaces.
  • Ability to set technical direction for application architecture and development discipline, and assess the impact of architecture changes on the business and application is required
  • Must have the ability to work in a team environment and work independently on client engagements
  • Create, manage, and maintain critical System Development Lifecycle (SDLC) documentation in support of FNS governance mandates
  • Oversee annual Security Authorization processes. Create, manage, and maintain critical security documentation.
  • Strong consensus building skills across multiple groups including but no limited to the application team, user stakeholder groups, project management, Security, IT, and external business partners. Proactively establish and maintain positive relationships with all such groups.
  • Strong presentation skills required. Must be able to articulate technical approaches to architectural review boards and gain approval for all technology insertion/modification decisions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for delivery and business development based activities required
  • BS in Computer Science, Engineering, or other related technical discipline required; relevant technical certification a plus
