Executive Assistant needed for a Japanese regulatory standards office in Washington D.C. The association represents the automobile sector in Japan and follows issues related to U.S. and international standards that apply to the manufacture and sale of automobiles. The office is small and specialized which will allow the assistant to combine light research and administrative support with other interesting investigatory activities. Research and reporting duties include investigating topical issues in the auto industry through the internet and various trade publications. Topics include policy issues such as current regulatory discussions concerning the sector, harmonizing car manufacturing standards across various countries, tariff threats, political positions of the Administration and Congress on auto-related matters, etc. The candidate will follow these issues and report on them to the senior executive as requested. At times the employee may be asked to attend and summarize seminars, Congressional hearings, or other fact-finding missions related to this sector. Administrative duties include formatting correspondence, office upkeep, paying bills, making travel arrangements and general support for the senior executive from Japan. No prior experience is required, but candidates should possess demonstrable achievement in prior positions and/or an academic background that establishes their ability to perform the duties required.
