  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Tier 3 security investigation or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
  • This position requires the incumbent to undergo a childcare background check due to regular contact with children/adolescents.
  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent to have tuberculosis testing.
  • This position requires an annual seasonal influenza vaccination unless otherwise exempt for medical or religious reasons.
  • This position requires you to complete a pre-employment physical due to heavy lifting requirements (objects/patients over 45 pounds).
  • This position is covered by the Department of Defense Civilian Employee Drug-Free Workplace Program as a Testing Designated Position (TDP).
  • This position requires you to obtain and maintain: Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or Pediatric Education for Prehospital Professionals (PEPP) certifications.
  • This position requires a valid stateside driver's license.
  • This position requires you to obtain and maintain an Emergency Vehicle Operator's Course (EVOC) certification and Fort Belvoir Transportation Motor Pool (TMP) license within 6 months of employment.
  • This position may require shift work, nights, weekends, holidays, or on-call basis.
  • This position is considered Mission Essential and may require you to work during inclement weather or during other emergency situations.

    In order to qualify, you must meet the experience and certification requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.     Experience Requirement: To qualify based on your work experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as: responding to emergencies, providing emergency medical care, and transporting injured and ill patients. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service, GS-06.

    Education: Some federal jobs allow you to substitute education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

    Certification Requirement (Selective Placement Factor): Applicants are required to possess and maintain a National Registry of Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic (NREMT-P) or a National Registry-Paramedic (NR-P) certification. (Note: You must attach a copy of your current/valid certification with your application package).

    This job does not have an education qualification requirement.
